One amazing man....

The latest addition in my list of people I admire is Lt. Gen. Romeo Dallaire. He was the force commander of the UN troops in Rwanda during the genocide. His book "Shake hands with the devil" is truly amazing and definately worth reading.
"It is impossible to read this memoir without feeling sick and without feeling rage...At the very least, read the book and weep for all the good men who could do nothing." Calgary Herald

I am still alive!!!
First of all, sorry about the LONG gap between posts! Have been on a rather challenging prac but I know thats not an excuse. Secondly I have some SUPER EXCITING news, as some of you may know my Grandma was diagnosed with cancer last year. The main tumour in her stomach was removed but it had spread to her liver. She decided not to have any chemo or further surgery and just enjoy the life she has left. So we all prayed on three different continents and about a week ago she went for a check up and the doctor said there is NO sign of cancer and that the spots on her liver had completely dissapeared! How amazing is that?!! The fact that there are over 6 billion people on earth, most of which are starving and live in horrible conditions sometimes makes me think that God has His hands full, but He actually does care, intervene and walk with us through our little lives. So thanks God!! & thank you so much to everyone out there who prayed. Your prayers moved the heart of God and made the world of difference to one family.
PS. 9 more sleeps till we go to Rwanda!!!!

just over 2 weeks away!

Riverview's trip to Rwanda is just over 2 weeks away (how exciting!)

For those who don't know, a group of around 20 people (including Ronel and myself) will be flying to Rwanda to be a part of the Hope Rwanda campaign (visit www.riverviewchildrendsfoundation.com and www.hoperwanda.org for more info)

What can you do to help?

~~> PRAY! We're going to need all the spiritual and emotional support we can get to try and make a difference to these people who have suffered and continue to suffer each day.

~~> Fundraise/Donate. If you feel you would like to put a donation towards a project, let Bridget or one of the team members know and we will be more than happy to pass that on.

It is going to be one AMAZING journey for each of us, and I know that God will continue to strengthen and encourage us with willing hearts to be apart of this awesome project.

I'm sure there will be many great stories/photos to share with you guys when we get back :P stay tuned!

I can only imagine

This song says it all for me right now

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk By your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When your face Is before me
I can only imagine

[Chorus:]
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes A
nd I find myself Standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine
