Deep & Meaningful thoughts with Nelson...
What it means to be a girly girl...

I was reading an article the other day about Manly Men, what it means to be manly in a society that values gender equality where the lines between men and women are often blurred. This led to me thinking about what is means to be a girly girl. I have come to the conclusion that although I love clothes, make-up, doing my hair and all that stuff in the end appearances have very little to do with having a feminine heart. The girls I admire and respect, Angelina Jolie, Mother Teresa, Esther (in the Bible), my mum, Heather Baker, Nancy Alcorn, Christine Caine... all have one thing in common, they have warm, nurturing hearts who truly care about others around them. I feel most beautiful when I am holding a crying child and I know that my presence is making them feel comforted.

Femininity to me always comes back to Proverbs 31... When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say and she always says it kindly. To me there is nothing feminine about being a diva and demanding repect. As Audrey Hepburn puts it "For beautiful lips speak words of kindness". I think that as we embrace the compassion, mercy and potential to nurture that God has buried in all our hearts we will be bright shining stars in a world where girls are often seen as complicated drama queens.
What do you girls (& guys) out there think?

Wow…what a retreat

It started with the Rugby on Friday night…we were SO robbed :P…I’ll get over it eventually…
Then after the rugby came the car-ride down to Nanga with the oh so cool Josh, Nahum (Norm) and Marjie (Mooshasha..teehee)

The YA retreat was such a blessing to be a part of. So many new young people to meet and have an absolute ball with, share the glory of God with and to hang-out with. The sessions were brilliant, the food A LOT better than Serpentine :P and the scenery…well I haven’t quite found the words to describe its beauty yet!…strangely enough I didn’t take many photos…think I was just chillaxing and forgot all about it hehe

Canoeing was a blast…soo much hard-work, my muscles are still strained a bit. My canoe buddy was the lovely Maura, she’s quite the little navigator hehe. Besides having to carry to our canoe over sharp, slippering rocks (hence my huge gash on my toe which is now lovely and infected) and getting our canoe full of water, we had a BLAST :P...Can’t wait for the next one!

Just wanted to say Happy Easter... if possible try to visit Riverview Church this Easter weekend, last night was amazing! - i even saved the day when Cathy got a moth in her eye!

talk about a love song...

how awesome is this album? None but Jesus sung so beautifully by Brooke Fraser would have to be my favourite. It's incredible how music can help touch and stir your soul, and make you want to desire God even more.

birthday fun, flowers & coronas...

Hola
well, what a birthday! I am finally 20..yeehaaa.
Was spoilt rotten with gifts which included beads, 2 bunches of flowers (from the beautiful Tanya and my boss!!), jewellry, a six pack of coronas(weeee), clothes, money, not to mention a fabulous birthday breakfast @ Coco's - but most of all, being blessed with friends and family who love and encourage me (so cliche, but TRUE!), what more could a girl ask for?

20 today!

A big thank you to my beautiful friends and family who have blessed me with their well wishes. You guys rock my world (along with Jesus :P)
Luv yas BIG TIME!
