Australia Day 2007!

Well I decided this year that I would make the effort to go to the fireworks on the South Perth foreshore because I usually avoid the crowds and parking nightmare. So a big group of us headed to the forshore at about 3 o clock where we enjoyed lazing around under the shade of a tree right next to the water. It certainly was a hot day reaching to almost 42 degrees, and we could certainly feel it as we waited for the sun to go down. Because of the heat however the foreshore was lacking in its usual crowds, which was good though, meant that we got a good spot but still had that aussie atmosphere that is always evident on Australia Day. It was interesting to see how many people wore the same Australian flag outfits, guys draping the flag over their shoulders like some sort of super hero and heaps of girls wearing the aussie flag as a dress, complete with those wrap around belts that seem to be the current fashion. I myself opted to just wear the blue and white colours with some red havies (Havianas). My friend Bree decided to wear the good old 'Wife beater' singlet but got a mens size 22 and wore it as a dress. All round it was a good day just hanging out with some friends and enjoying the fireworks as well as the impressive lightning display over the city. Here are some pics of the day

StReSsEd

man, life can be so stressful

I have been dealing with a lot of negative vibes and an unbelievable heavy work-load at work, my Mum being sick and back in hospital and feeling the need to try and please everyone and be the 'wonder woman' i would like to be, but I seriously fail at that....

the result? high blood pressure, clumps of my hair falling out in the shower and a lot of tears (no surprises there!)

My boss has been suprisingling sweet and supportive, she made me realise that I need some serious ME time now and to stop trying to please everyone else. I'm really greatful for the people surrounding me, even though they can't always be there, it helps knowing they are there to listen...a very good quality I appreciate in a friend.

and yes, I have so much to be greatful for, this post is in no way a 'feel sorry for me' pitty party.

so anyway.. I have decided to splurge a little....my reward? a little bit of retail therapy plus a day off today from work, and then 3 days down south over the long-weekend with my man...bring it on, baby!

dinner by the river?

ooh I was out on Matilda Bay the other evening having a fish and chips dinner, and it was truly gorgeous! The sun had just set, the stars were twinkling and the city lights were glowing on the river like little glowing streamers.

Other dinner ideas by the river:

~~> Picnic

~~> Chelsea's Pizza Co. (just down the road on Stirling Hwy) mmm mmm

~~> Ice-cream or chocolate..Ice Cream AND chocolate (ok so it's not technically dinner, but you get the gist :P)

a simple treat for a mild summer's evening

hangin' with the girls

The other night, Jodes was kind enough to ask us over to her house-sitting place to join her for a yummy dish of lasagne. Good company, good music, good food and good wine, not to mention beautiful surroundings.

Then it was on to Mt Lawley for some coffee and cake - nice night!

How hard can it be !!??!!

Over the past month or so I have been looking for a rental property with my friend Kate with no luck! Either we love the property but our application is not accepted or the property is too far away, or theres only one car park. So then I thought of the brilliant plan to write this blog post so that if any of you readers out there knows of someone who either owns a property or currently rents one and would like some more housemates PLEASE let us know. Below is our list of criteria:
1.) At least two bedrooms
2.) At least two parking spots
3.) Anywhere in CBD (West Perth, South Perth, East Perth) or East Vic Park/Applecross/Manning will be considered.
If you know of anyone please leave a comment and I will find a way to get in touch with you.
Thanks!
